Start with the board pattern
In the Maharashtra SSC exam, most subjects have a written paper of 80 marks and 20 marks of internal assessment (source). A class test is smaller. It should still use the same kinds of questions as the board paper, so that students practise the real format. Take the latest pattern and sample papers from the board's official website.
5 steps to a good question paper
- Fix the scope. Write down the chapters, the total marks and the time.
- Make a blueprint. Decide the marks for each chapter. Then decide how many questions are easy, medium and hard.
- Mix the question types. Use objective questions, short answers and long answers in the same proportion as the board paper.
